Effects of drinking ginger or placebo beverages on palm temperature in women. Six healthy women with cold sensitivity drank placebo or ginger (677 μg of gingerols, including 6-gingerol and 6-shogaol) beverages in the morning (a) or afternoon (b). Palm temperature was determined by thermographic measurement. Values are shown as mean ± SD for the six women. ∗p < 0.05 versus the placebo treatment at the same time point (paired t-test). There was a significant interaction between beverage and time (p = 0.009 in the morning; p = 0.024 in the afternoon) by two-way repeated measures ANOVA.
