Evasion of human CD1d antigen presentation is a pathogenicity factor for HSV-1. Eight- to 10-week-old age- and gender-matched C57BL/6 (B6), hCD1d-KI, and CD1d^−/− mice (n, 5 each) were anesthetized with ketamine-xylazine and were ocularly infected with 50 million HSV-1 strain F viruses.
