The computational effort required to reach a fixed uncertainty threshold depends sharply on Δt. The total computational effort is determined by the total number of trajectories sampled in that condition (i.e.,i=1NMi), multiplied by the length of each trajectory. Note that the curves are not monotonic, since the number of required trajectories increases superlinearly with Δt, but the number of timesteps in each trajectory decreases linearly with Δt.
