eIF2A and eIF5B synergistically facilitate the loading of tRNA^Met_i onto the 40S ribosomal subunit. The loading of [³²P]tRNA^Met_i onto the 40S ribosomal subunit was monitored by a filter-binding assay [24] performed using radiolabeled tRNAs, 40S ribosomes, and various combinations of eIF2A, eIF5B, and the HCV IRES, as depicted in the upper panel. Experiments were performed three times, and average values are presented in the middle panel, along with a representative autoradiogram.
