Microscopy images of 4T1 cells with no LEUS irradiation after co-culture with MSN (a); FA-β-CD/H-MSN (b) and DESN (c), respectively. Compared with the MSN group and FA-β-CD/H-MSN group, the morphology of the 4T1 cells in the DESN group slightly changed, which indicated low cytotoxicity. Microscopy images of 4T1 cells with LEUS irradiation (1 MHz, 0.8 W·cm⁻²) after co-culture with MSN (d); FA-β-CD/H-MSN (e) and DESN (f), respectively. Compared with those groups without LEUS, after nanoparticle incubation with DESN and exposure to LEUS irradiation (0.8 W·cm⁻²), the morphology of cells and population changed. However, after incubation with DESN and exposure to LEUS irradiation (0.8 W·cm⁻²), an obviously reduced cell population and changed cell morphology could be observed.
