Table 2. Cardiorespiratory fitness measures of participants during the progressive test until exhaustion.

Characteristic Beginning of preparatory phase (autumn competition round)
(N = 14)
Beginning of preparatory phase (spring competition round)

MET (mL/kg/min) 17.3 (16.7 - 18.4) 17.8 (17.1 - 18.7) 0.510
Rf 58.0 (56.1 - 67.5) 58.8 (56.8 - 66.7) 0.975
The table presents median (interquartile range) values. VO2max - maximum oxygen uptake. HRmax - maximum heart rate. AT - anaerobic threshold. RQ - respiratory quotient (volume ratio of emitted CO2 to oxygen uptake). RC - respiratory compensation. VE - minute ventilation. MVV - maximal voluntary ventilation. MET - metabolic equivalent. Rf - respiratory frequency. The difference was tested using the Wilcoxon matched pairs test. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
