Role of PCMS (sample 3) on MMP-9, MMP-2 activities during prevention of gastric ulcer. Acute gastric ulcers were induced in rats as described in Fig. 4. Equal amount of (a) PBS extracts and (b) Tx extracts (70 μg proteins in each lane) were electrophoresed in 8% non reducing SDS polyacrylamide gel containing 1 mg/ml of gelatin and MMP activity was estimated. (c) Histographic representation of the comparative analysis of secreted proMMP-9/ activeMMP-9 activities (d) secreted proMMP-2/ vs. activeMMP-2 activities (e) synthesized proMMP-9/activeMMP-9 (f) synthesized proMMP-2/activeMMP-2 activities during acute ulceration and its prevention with 50 μl of PCMS for 30 min only. Pretreatment with 50 μl of PCMS for 30 min significantly reduced the activity of proMMP-9 near to control, both secreted 33 and synthesized forms; whereas, it didn’t show any significant impact on the MMP-2 activities while preventing gastric ulcer.
