Relatively few mono- and disaccharides were found in these venoms and all were in the N-acetylated form. N-Acetylneuraminic acid is a common terminating sugar in the branched, asparagine-linked glycan moieties of snake venom glycoproteins. Mannose was not recorded, but it could not have been detected under the conditions were used, except at very high concentrations.
