a. Pre-eclampsia increases the risk of cerebral palsy directly, and indirectly by increasing preterm birth.

b. By adjusting for preterm birth, we underestimate the overall effect of pre-eclampsia on cerebral palsy.

c. Adjusting for preterm birth causes the estimated effect of pre-eclampsia on cerebral palsy to suffer from both overadjustment and selection bias.
