Kinetics for single rabbit myofibrils. (A) Picture of a striated myofibril attached between two microneedles in an experimental bath. (B) Representative force traces collected during experiments conducted with myofibrils isolated from NTG and TG ventricles. After myofibrils were fully activated, a shortening-stretch protocol was imposed, during which the force dropped and then redeveloped to a new steady state. The force was smaller in the TG myofibril. The rates of force development during initial activation (kact), force redevelopment after shortening-stretch (ktr), and relaxation (krel) were slower in the TG myofibril.
