A young rat submitted to postnatal hind limb immobilization leading to sensorimotor restriction (SMR). To restrict movement, the feet of the pup were first tied together with medical tape and then attached to a cast made of epoxy stick. The proximal part of the hind limb was also taped to the cast. The hip joint was free to move perpendicular to the knee, ankle and toe joints that remained in an extended position during the casting period of 16 hours per day from P1 to P28.
