Geographic distribution of the resequencing panel populations. The European sample (blue) consists of 17 individuals from 7 populations including: 3 French, 3 Polish, 4 Daghestani, 1 Italian, and 3 Finnish, and 3 Northern Europeans of unknown ethnic origin. The sub-Saharan African samples (red) consist of individuals from 10 ethnic groups including: 2 Biaka, 3 Alur, 3 Hema, 3 Nande, 3 Mbuti, 1 Kenyan, 3 Nigerians, 2 San, 3 Sotho, and 3 Nguni. The South Asian samples (turquoise) are comprised of 28 individuals from 10 populations including: 3 Brahmin, 3 Chenchu, 3 Irula, 3 Khondadora, 3 Kshatriya, 3 Madiga, 3 Mala, 3 Relli, 1 Santal, and 3 Yadava. The samples from East Asians (green) are from 5 ethnic groups including: 3 Han Chinese, 3 Cambodians, 2 Vietnamese, 3 Japanese, and 3 Aboriginal Malay.
