Blue light enhances SCW thickening in fiber cells of the inflorescence stem. When CRY1 perceives blue light, it can upregulate the expression of MYC2 and MYC4. Binding of MYC2 and MYC4 to the NST1 promoter leads to activation of the SCW formation-related transcriptional program for enhancement of SCW thickening.
