Vigorous motility patterns are reduced significantly when human sperm are incubated
under noncapacitating conditions. Sperm samples from eight individuals were split and
incubated for 5 h in either HTF (capacitating, solid lines) or mHTF (noncapacitating,
dashed lines) medium. Aliquots were assessed for motility at 1-h intervals, and
motility profiles were determined by CASAnova. Bars represent the mean ± SEM of motile
tracks. Differences between motility groups at corresponding time points were
determined by two-tailed unpaired t-test after arcsine transformation of percentages.
