Flowchart. At baseline, 82 community-dwelling spousal caregivers were recruited. During the phone interview (after 3 months), 1 caregiver was dead. Among the 81 couples contacted, 1 care-receiver was admitted to a nursing home and 2 care-receivers had died. At the second visit (after 16 months), 3 caregivers who had lost their spouses refused to participate. Concerning the 78 care-receivers, 51 were still living at home with their caregivers, 7 lived in a nursing home, 4 passed away in a nursing home and 16 died at home
