(a) Rat paw edema induced by sPLA2 and sPLA2-Nar showed dose-dependent edema with doses of 10 μg/paw, whereas p-BPB treatment virtually abolished the edema induced by sPLA2. Observations were conducted at times of 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, and 240 minutes after injection. Results were expressed as the increase in paw volume (mL) calculated by subtracting the basal volume. Each point represents the mean ± S.E.M. of four rats and *P < 0.05. (b) Effect of previous injection of dexamethasone or naringin (3.0 mg/kg) before injection of native sPLA2. The results were expressed as microliters of plasma protein extravasation.
