Accumulation of CSF1 and VEGF-A mRNAs in HGFs treated with IL-6/sIL-6R, and (+)-terrein. HGFs (5.0 × 10⁴ cells/cm²) were cultured until they reached subconfluence. Next, the cells were pretreated with (+)-terrein (10 μM) for 30 min, followed by stimulation with IL-6/sIL-6R (50 ng/mL each) for 12 h. Total RNA was extracted, as described in Materials and Methods, and was analyzed by performing quantitative RT-PCR with specific primers shown in Table 2. GAPDH was used as an internal control. Data are expressed as mean ± SD and are representative of three independent experiments; *p < 0.05 (ANOVA/Scheffe's test).
