Activity was defined as a significant increase in proliferation or differentiation, which lead to powder extracts being identified as the most promising extract reserve. Ceramium pallidum is highlighted, as powder extract from this species gave the best osteogenic result to date (increasing cell differentiation and cell/zebrafish mineralisation); as such it is discussed in greater detail in the present study.
