Voxel-based morphometry analyses revealed that (A) atrophy in the bilateral midcingulate cortex, thalamus, and caudate were associated with lower empathic concern and consolation, and (B) atrophy in the bilateral thalamus, left frontoinsula, and left ventral striatum were associated with greater disengagement and impatience in bvFTD and healthy controls.
