To isolate neuron-autonomous, mGlu5 receptor-specific calcium responses, all experiments were performed in the presence of tetrodotoxin and the selective mGlu1 receptor NAM, VU0490650 (10 μM). Pyramidal cells were loaded with the cell-impermeable fluorescent calcium indicator Fluo-4. (B) Summary of calcium imaging experiments.
