The lipid kinase PIPKIγi2, is activated by phosphorylation to bind talin in the cytosol and then it is recruited to the plasma membrane where it phosphorylates PI(4)P to PI(4,5)2. Talin is then activated by newly synthesized PI(4,5)P2 which relieves the intramolecular inhibition of talin, to enable both its actin binding and binding to the cytoplasmic tail of β-integrins.
