Leishmanicidal activity of STL 2 and 5–8 against intracellular parasites. Infected peritoneal macrophages were treated with STL at LD50 concentration, previously determined as for promastigotes, for 48 h at 34 °C and 5% of CO2. Compounds 5, 6 and 7 showed statistically significant differences (T-test p values of 0.012, 0.035 and 0.018, respectively) when compared with control. The infection index was calculated by multiplying the percentage of infected macrophages by the average number of amastigotes per macrophage. Control corresponds to untreated infected peritoneal macrophages.
