Figure 2

Effects of oleandrin and odoroside A on cell morphology (A) and colony formation (B) in MDA-MB-231 and RT-R-MDA-MB-231 cells. (A) Cells were treated with oleandrin (50 nM) and odoroside A (100 nM) for 24–72 h. Then, the morphologic changes of the cells were observed under a microscope (200×). (B) MDA-MB-231 and RT-MDA-MB-231 cells seeded in six-well plates (1000 cells/well) were treated with oleandrin and odoroside A at the indicated doses. After 24 h, the culture medium was discarded and replaced with fresh medium every 2–3 days. After 1–2 weeks, the cells were fixed, stained using crystal violet and counted. The values are expressed as the means ± SEM from three independent determinations. * p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01 compared with the control group of MDA-MB-231 cells; ## p < 0.01 compared with control of RT-R-MDA-MB-231 cells. §§ p < 0.01 between MDA-MB-231 and RT-R-MDA-MB-231 cells.
