Model of p13II function in T cells: p13II forms oligomeric K+ channel in inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM); K+ influx affects ΔΨm and triggers processes that lead to ROS formation; at physiological ROS concertation, this leads to activation of the “normal” T cells; at very high toxic levels of ROS in transformed cells, this leads to apoptosis and cell death.
