(A) Cells from 12 horses were incubated with insulin at either zero μIU/mL (negative control) or 500 μIU/mL (positive control), and further aliquots were incubated with 500 μIU/mL insulin in the presence of an anti-IGF-1 receptor blocking antibody or control antibody. (B) Cells from six horses were incubated with either zero, one or five ng/mL recombinant human IGF-1 and further aliquots were incubated with five ng/ml recombinant human IGF-1 in the presence of the anti-IGF-1 receptor blocking antibody. Each bar represents mean ± SEM of percentage change in cell number vs. zero insulin. * indicates statistically significant difference compared with control (P-value < 0.0001).
