Specific features of various types of base pairs captured by genus plots for structure of large ribosomal subunit of the Haloarcula marismortui (PDB ID 1s72). Each new plot (from the bottom to the top) is obtained upon adding an additional type of base pairs to the analysis, according to the ordering in (2). Flat regions which are formed detect a domain structure of this ribosome; various colors on the horizontal axis correspond to domains, which are shown in the same color in the cartoon representation of the ribosome. The largest spaces between plots arise after including tSS and cSS detect helix packing and A-minor interactions, which indeed contribute most to the complexity of bonds. The most narrow spaces between plots correspond to rare cHH and tHH interactions.
