Dose-dependent change in the phagocytotic effects of BPRBE on S. Typhimurium-infected macrophages. RAW 264.7 cells (1 × 104 cells) were incubated with three concentrations of BPRBE and NPRBE (1, 10 and 100 μg/mL) for 4 h and were then infected with S. Typhimurium SL1344 (1 × 104 CFU). After incubation for 60 min, bacteria-infected macrophages were cultivated in the presence of gentamycin (30 μg/mL) for 30 min. Bacterial internalization efficiency was determined by measuring the protection of internalized bacteria against bactericidal action of the antibiotic gentamycin. Data are expressed as the mean ± SD of triplicate experiments. Bars sharing a common letter are not significantly different between groups at p < 0.05
