Mechanism of polyamine stimulation of EmrR (A) and GshA (B) synthesis. E. coli MA261 was cultured in the presence of 0.6 μm K2TeO3, with or without 0.6 mm putrescine, and harvested at A540 = 0.3, for 24 and 36 h. Protein and mRNA levels of EmrR and GshA were measured (panels a and b).
