The LC‐MS spectrum shows MS2 data obtained from a +2 parent ion with m/z 718.3. The y‐ and b‐ series of ions allow exact localization of the methionine sulfoxide. A neutral loss of 64 Da is observed from the y6 daughter ion and corresponds to the release of methane sulfenic acid (CH3SOH) from the side chain of methionine sulfoxide.
