Oxidized GSTF9 reduces hydrophobic peroxides less efficiently. A difference plot of the peroxide concentration (µM) (H2O2, t‐butyl peroxide, CuOOH) reduced after 30 min with GSTF9ox and GSTF9red versus the hydrophobicity index (ALogP) of the peroxides is presented. The more hydrophobic the peroxide, the larger the difference between GSTF9red and GSTF9ox peroxide reduction (Δ[peroxide]). The data represent the mean ± SD of 3 independent experiments. The reduction scheme for peroxides (X) with the release of oxidized glutathione (GSSG) and a water molecule is shown.
