Serum lactate levels significantly decreased over time. (A) Changes in lactate levels between the neuromuscular blockade (NMB) and placebo groups. Lactate levels were not different between the NMB and placebo groups (p = 0.565). (B) Changes in lactate levels in survivors and non-survivors. Survivors had a significantly lower serum lactate level (p = 0.047). However, post hoc analyses showed that there were no differences in the serum lactate levels at each time-point, between survivors and non-survivors.
