Strains were grown in complete medium for 20 h and then transferred to minimal medium supplemented with 1% glucose for 5 h, and (c) glucose uptake, represented by the percentage of residual glucose in the supernatant, was measured in the absence or (d) presence of 1 M sorbitol. Standard deviations represent the average from 3 biological replicates.
