Gene expression signatures in MM-BMSCs. Depicted are transcriptional signatures of patient derived BMSCs and BMSCs co-cultured in a direct contact with MM cells, which were identified in studies using gene expression microarrays [17], [18], [57], [60], [61]. Shared gene categories reported in the studies are shown in the middle of the diagram and represent upregulated (red arrow) and downregulated (blue arrow) gene signatures, which are common to MM-BMSCs. Each side of the diagram represents unique functional categories identified in the gene expression sets for both MM-BMSCs and MM co-cultured BMSCs.
