NSP2 crystal structure shows a disulfide linkage between C8 and C85. Crystal structure of WT SA11 Sh-NSP2 (PDB ID code 6CY9) is shown. The simulated annealing F_o − F_c difference electron density map (contoured at 3σ, green mesh) together with the 2F_o – F_c map (contoured at 1σ, blue mesh) clearly indicates that the side chain of C8 adopts a conformation that forms a disulfide bridge (yellow) with C85. The nitrogen (blue), oxygen (red), and sulfur (yellow) elements of C8 and C85 have been colored separately.
