Upon treatment with ADR, the expression of p53 can be activated. The p53 downstream mitochondria-related genes Bax and Bcl-2 can be up-regulated and down-regulated, respectively, further decreasing the mitochondrial membrane potential (∆Ψ m) and regulating caspase-dependent apoptosis.
