The median of the Lycium barbarum var. barbarum reference plants is between 2 and 3 mm², whereas the Lycium chinense var. chinense seeds are significantly bigger in area size with a median between 4 and 6 mm². Lycium ruthenicum seeds are smaller again, with a median slightly bigger than 2 mm². The commercial Goji products have boxplots medians ranging from 2 and 3 mm², similar to Lycium barbarum and Lycium ruthenicum.
