XRD patterns of the synthetic and biological jarosite. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of both the samples prepared in this study for spectroscopic analysis. Mineral identification of the synthesized material and the microbial culture precipitates (i.e., the biological sample) are consistent with the Fe3+-bearing sulfate mineral jarosite [(K,H3O)Fe3(SO4)2(OH)6]. The International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD) database card pattern (card no. 036-0427), indicated by the stick pattern at the bottom of the figure, is included for reference).
