Please note that the majority of physiologically-relevant lipids possess a saturated and an unsaturated fatty acyl moiety at the sn-1 and the sn-2 position, respectively. Although there also are alkyl-acyl and alkenyl-acyl PL, only the ester-linked compounds are shown here.
