“Population”-level comparison of bound peptides. The percentage of bound peptides for 20 bonobos, 20 central chimpanzees and 20 western chimpanzees for the A, B and C loci. Peptides bound by multiple MHC molecules within one locus and species/subspecies were counted only once. Significant differences between the different species/subspecies within each locus are indicated by stars above the different bars, thereby a star above a bar represents a significant difference to each of the other two bars within this locus (permutation test, 10,000 resamplings, Bonferroni correction for multiple testing, p ≤ 0.0052 significant threshold after Bonferroni correction)
