This neuron’s activity is modulated when the hand is placed in different configurations using a motorized apparatus (left panel). However, responses are further modulated by cutaneous stimulation, consisting of edges indented into the skin (right panel). The neuron’s response is a complex function of hand conformation and cutaneous input.
