Na-handling genes (A–K) in the distal nephron are inappropriately regulated in salt-sensitive nondipping hypertension. Kidneys from wild-type (WT) and Per1 knockout (KO) mice on normal diet (black) or high-salt diet plus mineralocorticoid treatment (HS/DOCP; gray) were collected at noon. Quantitative PCR was performed to evaluate various Na-handling genes. Expression was relativized to control diet for both WT and KO. Relative expression of these genes in the kidney cortex is shown.
