Maximum cutting speed as a function of the nozzle angle for a sonic exit nozzle [89] and for a supersonic exit nozzle [91] during CO₂ laser cutting of 3 mm mild steel and 3 mm Al-2024-T3 alloy respectively. Optimum nozzle angles range from 35° to 40° with regard to the laser beam.
