DENV is transmitted by individual mosquitoes that are found indoors. Humans move daily to different types of locations within the city. Infectious mosquitoes transmit DENV through bites to individuals susceptible to the infecting serotype who are present at a location at the same time as mosquitoes seeking a blood meal. The trial consists of eight procedures listed in the figure. The top curve shows the timing of these procedures in reference to DENV transmission dynamics, and the bottom cartoon depicts each of the procedures.
