Table 2.

Type of mutation, ploidy level, SSR instability, flowering and root development on media containing kanamycin as well as tolerance to drought and resistance to Colorado potato beetle in somatic hybrids between potato + MMR deficient Solanum chacoense that produced at least one mutant phenotype in a greenhouse; ND, not determined; +, yes; -, no.

∗Resistance to Colorado potato beetle (CPB) was evaluated as indicated by Molnár et al. (2016), and is presented here as: ++++, both highly antibiotic and antixenotic, like the wild parent; ++, antibiosis and antixenosis intermediate between that of the parents; +, only antibiotic to CPB; -, lack of both resistances against CPB. ∗∗Used as control – leaf abnormalities might be caused by somatic fusion. ∗∗∗The somatic hybrids with both traits, resistance to Colorado potato beetle and tolerance to drought are highlighted in bold; ‘mutator’ genotypes are highlighted in pale-red.
