ATG16 in xenophagy and LC3-associated phagocytosis (LAP). Through interaction with ubiquitin, NOD1, and NOD2, ATG16 is important for xenophagy. The ATG16T300A variant has a decreased stability and is impaired in this process. ATG16 is also required for LAP, which promotes LC3 lipidation of the phagosomal membrane.
