Antibacterial strategy using dual agents in dental composite. Dimethylaminohexadecyl methacrylate (DMAHDM) can inactivate periodontal pathogens by contact without leaching from resins. Methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) can detach proteins, thereby hampering bacterial attachment. DMAHDM and MPC are both non-volatile, chemically stable and can sustain long-term antibacterial activity.
