Heme-copper dioxygen or acid-base chemistry leading to μ-peroxo, μ-oxo, or μ-hydroxo-bridged high-spin [(F8)FeIII-X- CuII(TMPA)]n+ (X = O or OH; n = 1 or 2) complexes. In these compounds, the iron(III) ion lies well above the porphryinate plane. Similar chemistry occurs when utilizing other tetra- or tridentate nitrogen-containing ligands for the copper ion. See the text for discussion.
