In a cohort of control, Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and mixed (AD with vascular) dementia samples (n = 33), presence of tau (A) and amyloid plaque (B) assessed at autopsy is associated with significantly increased perivascular space dilation. Among cerebrovascular risk factors, perivascular space dilation was qualitatively increased in cases with cerebral amyloid angiopathy (C) and deep microvascular lesions (D).
