We found significantly greater depression of pectoral fins during turning. For all nine trials, the inside pectoral fin was protracted, supinated and depressed. The absolute values of rotation were used in an ANOVA to compare the range of rotation in each axis and lower-case letters denote significant differences. The box represents the mean (middle line)±s.e. of the mean. Whiskers represent the upper and lower extremes. F2,24=20.6537, P<0.0001.
