The effect of temporin B peptides on lipids. Capability of the peptides to cluster anionic lipids in POPE/POPG (75:25 mol:mol) membranes in silico (A). The POPE/POPG ratio of the lipids within 4 Å from the peptides is compared across the three peptides where a ratio lower than three indicates the peptide tends to cluster the anionic lipids. Temporin B and temporin B KKG6A show a higher clustering effect. AMP disordering effect on lipid membranes in the steady-state, as obtained from 2H solid-state NMR experiments (BD). The effect of 2 mol% of each AMP was studied in multilamellar vesicles (MLVs) composed of POPE/POPG-d31 (75:25) (B), POPE/POPE-d31/POPG (50:25:25) (C) or POPG/POPG-d31 (75:25) (D) in 5 mM Tris-amine buffer, pH 7.00 and 100 mM NaCl.
